The idea

Two travel agencies compete about seats in a charter plane. They get win points for every sold seat. Different events sometimes help the opponent to reach the same goal.

The goal

Goal of the game is to sit as much passengers as possible of your own colour into the airplane. Once the aircraft is fully booked you are "Ready for Takeoff !" Winner is who has reached the higher amount of win points.

The material

1 board

72 Passenger-Stones

36 seatcards

18 eventcards

8 captains tickets ( 4 per player )

The preparation

Aufzählung

Place the board into the middle between the two players..

Aufzählung

Place the passenger-/game-stones aside the board in reach for both players

Aufzählung

The cards (seat- and eventcards together) will be mixed thorougly and placed at a pile aside the board

Aufzählung

Each player takes three cards in his hand.

Aufzählung

Both players get four captainstickets.

Aufzählung

Each Player chooses a colour. One plays the yellow, the other the blue tailplanes.

Aufzählung

Instead of a coin a games-stone will be thrown. The colour coming upside will start the game.

^ top

The game

Valid for the whole game: who's turn it is plays either none or a free number of his cards. Thereafter he takes a new card from the pile. It's not allowed to hold more than five cards in his hand.

Furthermore: Throughout one move, irrespective wether seat- or eventcard, it's only allowed to place the passengers in different rows.

But: If an eventcard removes a passenger, you can place your own passenger at that seat right afterwards !

1. Play a seat-/eventcard

A Player may play one or more of his cards in a row. For that put the card open onto the second pile and perform the action afterwards on the board.

Remember:

Aufzählung

The seatcard shows where to seat your passenger ( window, middle, aisle )

Aufzählung

The seats chosen must be free..

Aufzählung

The Player puts it's stone onto the free seat so as his colour is on the top

Aufzählung

For seats in the business class you need to play additionally to your seatcard a red Business-Class-card.

Aufzählung

The rows in the Economy-Class are fitted with a blue carpet, the ones in the Business Class with a red carpet

Aufzählung

A single row counts of three adjacent seats on one side of the aisle. So the numbered rows consist of two single rows with seats A, B and C on the left and D, E and F on the right side.

Aufzählung

Once a single row is fully occupied with one colour, it may not be destroyed by an eventcard. Sole exclusion: events which extraordinarily allow that. e.g. if a whole single row has to leave the airplane. Picture 1 shows an example for a fully occupied single row.

Aufzählung

Before you play a event-card, read it to your opponent.

Aufzählung

If not otherwise stated on the card, it may only used in the economy class

Aufzählung

eventcards may only be played if the action stated on the card can be executed

Aufzählung

if you place one or more passengers into the airplane, because of an eventcard, you do not need suitable seat cards nor red Business-Class-Cards.

Aufzählung

if you remove passengers from their seats because of an eventcard, then
a) this is also valid for own passengers.
b) it's not necessary that all affected seats are occupied.
Example.: Because of a stretcher it's necessary to remove all passengers in three consecutive rows from seats E and F. Picture 2 shows, that in this event, it's also valid for fully occupied single rows (row 10), as well as for own, here yellow passengers and that even free seats (row 11) does not affect the "Remove"-event

To finish your move, you have to take a new card from the pile !!

^ top

2. Take a seat-/eventcard

After you finished your move you take one card from the pile. Irrespective wether you played nil, one or several cards, you may always take a single card from the pile. Once the pile is used, it will be mixed again. Who has already five cards in his hand may not take another card from the pile. Instead he is allowed to change a card.

3. Change a card

If a player holds already the maximum of five cards in his hand he can change one card instead of playing his cards. For that he puts a card of his choice openly onto the second pile and takes another card from the primary pile.

Important ! You may only change a card instead of your move if you have already five card in your hand. Moreover, in the following move you have to play or pause if you don't have a suitable card to play.

4. Play the captains ticket

Each player has four captains tickets, which he can play during the game. If he plays the captains ticket, he must return it into the box. The tickets allows each player to place a passenger onto a seat of his choice, e.g. to fill up a single row. For a seat in the Business-Class you also need a red Business-Class-card. A captains ticket may be played in an open sequence to the other cards. But it may only be played once per move. For the captains ticket also valid: only different rows may be seated.

^ top

End of the game

Once the pile was used the third time each player may do one last move. You can play a last time your cards. If one or both players don't want to play once more, the game ends at once. Thereafter we count the points.

The game ends prematurely, if

  1. all seats are occupied

or

  1. despite of changed cards as described in (3), no one can play another move.

Now we count he winning points. To simplify the count all passengers from similar seats may be taken from the board.

Example: If both players have occupied a complete single row, both rows can be removed from the board completely. Thereafter you only have to count the remaining stones.

Count Version A

Each Business-Class-passenger counts 2 point. If a single row is occupied with a sole colour the respective player gets additional 4 bonus points.

In the Economy-Class the half values count, means 1 point per passenger and 2 bonus-points for a full occupied single row.

Alltogether means that, 10 points for a complete business-class-row and 5 points for a complete economy-class row. Winner is, who gets after all more points.

Count Version B

The points are given according to the popularity of the single seats. Middle Seats are the least popular ones and get only one point. In the Economy-Class most passengers like to sit at the window and get three points for that. For aisle seats in Economy you get two points.

The businessmen in the Business-Class normally like to leave the airplane instantly after arrival to get to their meetings. Therefore the aisle seats are worth five points and business-window-seats three points.

For full occupied rows in businees you get two bonus-points and one bonus point in Economy.

Again, winner is who gets more points.

For simplification an overview about the Version B points.
